I love coleus! By the way, they are pink because they naturally grow in the shade. The pink, or red, pigments (anthocyanins) assist chlorophyll in light harvesting for photosynthesis. At the same time they protect the plant from sun harm. The more sun the plant gets, the more pink pigments it will develop!

This is really really colourful, even for a plant. I wonder why it has such colours...

Yes, it is :giggle: It's originally a tropical weed, but I have no idea why it's so colourful, it's not toxic anyway.

Well sometimes they are...I've always thought that a very bright colour is like a warning; don't eat me :D Like it is in some mushrooms...

Amanitas, the bright red with white dots mushrooms, they are edible. Not by humans, but some animals crave those. And humans too... for some hallucinations xD

Yes, I was thinking about amanitas too :D I didn't know animals eat them, although I knew that some seek for the hallucinations by eating them... :giggle:

Hum, may be I'm not right. I thought that moose consume amanita's or dears, but can't find any information about that. There is several species of amanita that are edible, but the vast majority is toxic and can lead to a death. Amanita muscaria is the one that is used as hallucinoge, because even if consumed, it really rarely leads to death. Yes you are poisoned by this, but there is ways tp detoxify it.
